When I started replacing the sugar in my baking with low carb alternatives there was a learning curve to say the least, and a few missteps along the way.

This Granular Sugar Replacement by Swerve is one of the best sugar alternatives for keto baking. Made from erythritol, a natural sugar alcohol, it is a 1-1 replacement for sugar, meaning it measures the same. The best part though? No calories, no carbs, and no effect on blood sugar. Talk about sweet nothings!

WHY I RECOMMEND THIS

I had some reservations about switching to sugar alternatives. In the beginning of my keto journey I went without sweeteners for a while and just did without the taste of sweet. But little by little I started branching out in my cooking and eating and experimenting with baking and learning how to alter recipes to make them keto-friendly. I use this granular sugar replacement by Swerve for a lot of my baking.

I love that it is a natural alternative to sugar. Swerve's Granular Sugar Replacement looks like, measures like, and acts just like sugar in many recipes. The best part? It has no calories and no net carbs! I sometimes wonder how much healthier everyone would be if they switched to this instead of sugar.

WHY I RECOMMEND THIS

As I said above, I had some reservations about switching to sugar alternatives. In the beginning of my Keto journey I went without sweeteners for a while and just did without the taste of sweet. But little by little I started branching out in my cooking and eating and experimenting with baking and learning how to alter recipes to make them Keto-friendly... enter Lakanto's Monkfruit Sweetener. Out of all the sweeteners that I have tried this is what has become my personal choice for a white sugar replacement. I use it in almost all recipes calling for white sugar and have it in my coffee every morning.

I love that it is a natural alternative to sugar. The monkfruit, or luo han guo, was discovered in China over 1,000 years ago by the Luo Han monks. It was believed to be the secret to longevity, named "the immortals fruit". Lakanto's monkfruit sweetener looks like, measures like, and acts just like sugar. The best part? It has no calories and no carbs! I sometimes wonder how much healthier everyone would be if they switched to this instead of sugar.

WHY I RECOMMEND THIS

I use this sugar replacement in virtually everything that calls for white sugar. There are some instances where other replacements may act better, ice cream and frozen recipes for example. But for a go-to everyday white sugar this wins for me.

I will update this section with recipes that I use this is - stay tuned!
